My organization, http://www.defectivebydesign.org has declared October 3rd a DAY AGAINST DRM.
DRM stands for Digital Rights (we say Restrictions) Management. It is the stuff in digital music, on cds, dvds, cell phones, and other consumer electronics (like tivo and sony's upcoming PS3 with Blu Ray) that prevents you from doing things you would reasonably expect to be able to do with the stuff you buy, like share it, re-sell it, modify it.
DRM changes you from an owner of your stuff, to something much less than that. Your rights are changed to revocable permissions, and big companies - ultimately - have control over your stuff, and you, and they are doing it to make a huge profit.
Stop DRM, Join DefectiveByDesign, spread this message to your friends and family. Avoid products with DRM, look for those without. Check out the Directory on our website http://defectivebydesign.org/en/guide
Join an Action on October 3rd, see the website for details http://defectivebydesign.org/en/actions/oct3list
Sign our petition to Bono.
Together we will protect our privacy and our culture from the menace that is DRM!!
